If predatory keystone species such as gray wolves disappear from their historic habitat in the United States, their loss would have an enormous effect on populations such as wild deer and other prey animals that they hunt – leading to their demise as prey species and the subsequent decline or destruction of different wildlife and the environments in which they reside.
